Lew Stivall
Lew is the Dean of College Counseling at Blair Academy, a position he has held since 1997. He came to Blair in the fall of 1987 from Phillipsburg High School, where he had begun his career in teaching English and coaching swimming and tennis in 1979. Lew earned his A.B. degree in English from Lafayette College and a M.Litt. degree from Drew University. In addition to his duties as Dean of College Counseling, Lew serves as a Senior Monitor, Assistant Housemaster, and Head Boys’ Tennis Coach.
In addition to being a regular presenter at the National Association of College Admission Counselors (NACAC) on the subject of the recruitment of the student athlete, Lew has co-authored a book entitled The Recruitment of the Non-Scholarship Student Athlete, which focuses on the many student athletes who do no receive athletic grants-in aid and how their sport may impact their college process. Lew, his wife Lois, and three children, Michael, Lauren, and Anthony, live on the Blair campus in Blairstown, NJ.
